Our Purpose

Mission

The Angela Makiya Foundation exists to support children and families affected by cancer through emotional reassurance, practical relief, and moments of light during an otherwise overwhelming journey. Rooted in lived experience, the foundation provides thoughtful support that helps families feel seen, cared for, and less alone.

Vision

We envision a world where no individual or family facing cancer feels isolated, unsupported, or defined by their diagnosis, and where compassion, dignity, and humanity are central to the care experience.

Our Core Initiatives

Our programs focus on thoughtful impact, dignity, and presence, recognizing that even small acts of care can make a meaningful difference.

Color With Courage Initiative

The Color with courage initiative provides custom designed coloring books to children undergoing cancer treatment in hospitals across Detroit. The program offers a creative and calming outlet for children during long hospital stays, medical appointments, and treatment days.

One Month Of Relief Program

The One Month of Relief Program provides grocery assistance to families actively navigating a cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment. This initiative is designed to alleviate one small but meaningful financial burden during an already overwhelming time.
